Workshop: Key Competencies and Best Practices for Sustainability Degree Programs

The Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) is excited to convene an invitation-only, NSF-funded workshop in Washington D.C. to share our progress in developing dynamic, competency-based guidance and to advance Best Practices for Sustainability and Sustainability-related degree programs. This workshop is part of our multi-year Pathways towards Accreditation initiative. 

Hosted at The George Washington University Alliance for a Sustainable Future, this event will bring together program directors from leading professional preparation programs in the Eastern regions of United States to inform the development of program standards for academic degrees relating to sustainability.   

This event will be facilitated by:

  • Krista Hiser, Ph.D., Professor and Senior Advisor for Sustainability Education at GCSE
  • Jordan King, Ph.D., Director of Innovations in Honors and Professor of Practice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
  • Teri Balser, Ph.D., Professor and former Provost at the University of Calgary
